Amrutha Seshagiri

I am a doctoral student in the area of Decision Sciences at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. I am currently stepping into my fourth year of the doctoral programme after two years of coursework and a year working on my thesis. My academic curriculum as part of the doctoral programme at IIMB has provided me with good foundational knowledge through courses on probability theory, statistical inference, econometrics, multivariate statistics, advanced statistical methods, stochastic models, linear and non-linear programming, integer programming and computational methods. My area of interest and research are econometrics and statistics, especially Bayesian statistics.

My current research focuses on international tourism flows and the influence of economic strength, political and civil freedoms on inbound tourism across countries. I use econometric models and Bayesian frameworks to model heterogeneity and capture cross-category dependencies.
